Ties That Bind @ FEFF

April 29, 2019 @ 8:00 am - May 5, 2019 @ 5:00 pm CEST

TIES THAT BIND is an innovative programme designed to assist 10 producers from Asia and Europe with potential European-Asian co-production projects.

This workshop is supported by the CREATIVE EUROPE – MEDIA subprogramme of the European Union and was set up in 2009 by the FVG Audiovisual Fund, EAVE, Udine Far East Film Festival with the collaboration of the Busan International Film Festival and, starting from 2015, in partnership with SAAVA(Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association), founder of the Southeast Asian Film Financing Forum (SAFF) in Singapore.

TIES THAT BIND is targeted at 10 Asian & European producers with projects. We are now opening the call in addition also to other European professionals interested in working with Asia (sales agents, financiers, distributors, festival programmers, co-production market representatives) or producers without project. 5 of them will be selected to be an active part of the group. Ties that Bind 2019 will feature again 2 workshops, the first taking place from April 29 to May 3, 2019 within the framework of the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy. Workshop 2 will be organised from December 2-6, 2019 in Singapore during the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Forum in partnership with the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA).
The programme is led by a team of top experts from Asia and Europe. Further activities include pitching sessions, case studies and individual meetings with decision makers. Ties that Bind will bring together 10 film producers from Asian and European countries. Each producer will be selected together with a feature film project in development and will work with leading industry experts from both continents during the two workshops. Amongst a range of issues, sessions will focus on script development, co-production between Asia and Europe, financing in the two regions, marketing and promotion, and the legal aspects of co-production. The workshop participants will work together as a group, as well as through individual consultation, and will have the unusual opportunity to get to know each other very well with the object of forming long term creative and business partnerships and networks.
The participation at Ties That Bind is free of charge. Each participant will be offered accommodation during the workshop stay and we will cover part of the meals. In addition, we will offer a limited number of partial scholarships to contribute to the travel costs in specific cases.
